Functions

    • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion
    • To identify and reward innovations and share success stories
    • To organise periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators
    • To network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organisations
    • To create an institution’s innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students
    • To organise Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc.

Facilities available for Startups and Entrepreneurship

E – Store 

The E-Store of WCC was inaugurated to encourage student Entrepreneurships by Dr. Lillian I Jasper, Principal, Women’s Christian College, Chennai – 06. The store is functional on campus since 5th December 2019 and is run by student entrepreneurs. The inauguration began with a prayer song by the student representatives of Entrepreneurship Cell. Dr. Betsy Selvakumar,Vice Principal, WCC said the prayer after which the store and the signboard were inaugurated by Dr. Lillian I Jasper and Dr. Betsy Selvakumar. The Heads of the Departments, Deans, Members of IIC,Faculty members and Students representatives attended the event.

The E-Store is operating with the core objective to inculcate in the students the attributes of buying, selling and marketing of goods. The store is now functioning as a shop which caters to the needs of the students such as stationeries, toiletries, decorative items, etc.

Besides this, the store also encourages and nurtures any new ventures by students under its aegis.

RED-Rural Entrepreneur Development

RED of WCC is formed to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students coming from semi-urban and rural backgrounds. We motivate students to take entrepreneurship as their career for employment generation, income earning, community development etc. through sustainable opportunities. RED aims at self-sufficiency among rural communities minimizing migration, providing training for entrepreneurial initiatives which could be taken in rural areas.
