B.Com. (Accounting & Finance)

About us

The Department of Commerce commenced in the year 1998 under the banner of the self-financed section. It offers a gamut of specializations in its undergraduate courses, which provides the needed impetus to students’ choice of interest. The Accounting and Finance stream in Commerce began in 2005 with the sole intent of purveying conventional to contemporary theoretical and analytical knowledge in the commerce field, whereby the students horizons to pursue higher education or professional courses could be widened. This program aims at keeping abreast with the recent developments of the present scenario.

The Department has partnered with certain premier institutions that render tailor-made excellent courses to accentuate the potential and skills of the students and make them employment-ready. The array of subjects offered is customized to stir up the students’ knowledge quest; in such a way, they would become benchmark performers. In the first year of graduation, learning the fundamentals of core subjects is the key point, and in the second year, it is to provide a detailed study in their area of specialization. Eventually, in the final year, the emphasis shifts to incorporating industry-orientated knowledge.

With a commitment to delivering a blend of traditional wisdom and contemporary insights, our program empowers students to explore diverse avenues in commerce, preparing them for advanced studies or professional endeavors. Our dynamic curriculum evolves in tandem with industry trends, ensuring our graduates are equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills. Beyond academics, we foster holistic development through remedial support, immersive experiences like seminars, workshops, and industrial visits, and incentivize participation in internships and specialized courses. Embracing a well-rounded approach, we champion student engagement in sports, cultural activities, and community initiatives, fostering a vibrant and enriching learning environment.

At present, the department has 217 students and 5 teachers. The Department of Commerce has secured 25th rank at the All India level in the Prestigious Magazine-India Today Group ranking.
