WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY celebration in collaboration with Psychology, Shift 1
To engage our talented women college students in commemorating World Mental Health Day on
10. 10.2023, we partnered with Psycafe to organize a one-minute short film-making contest. The
theme, as suggested by the WHO, drew in seven creative entries, including one from St.
Stephens College, Delhi.
An expert talk on ‘Career opportunities post universities’
An expert talk on “Career opportunities in Psychology Post University” was organized by the Department of Psychology, shift II in collaboration with ‘What Now’ on 8th October 2023 a Women’s Christian College, Chennai. The speaker, Ms. Sanah Thakur, is the Sociology and Psychology Department head at Doha College. The talk aimed to provide valuable insights to the students aspiring to pursue higher education in psychology, focusing on effective preparation strategies and essential skills required for success.
Seminar on “Women’s Rights and Safety”
The seminar on ‘Women’s Rights and Safety’ comprised of a wide range of topics explored from
the perspectives of law, psychology, and social work.
The first speaker, Ms. Chamki Raj, an advocate, elaborated on the rich and varied history of women’s rights and legislation.
The second speaker, Dr. Sangeetha Makesh, a Counselling psychologist, provided fascinating insights into the diversity of relationships and identifying the patterns and cycles of abuse. The third speaker,
Ms. Poorani, a social worker, shed light on the various avenues available to seek readressal for crimes against women. Overall, the dignitaries enlightened and empowered the students with a comprehensive view of ‘Women’s Rights and Safety”
