| About the tree |
The bark yields a potent dye. In traditional medicine the bark is effective in treating intestinal disorders, sprains, bruises and swellings and is also used in the preparation of tooth-powder, lotions for sores and muscular pain. The leaves can be crushed into a paste for treating cuts and wounds. The leaflets and buds are known to have anti-fungal properties. The flowers are anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
Chosen as the College tree of WCC, its green leaves, yellow flowers and brown pods are a beautiful reflection of the college colours.
