| About the tree |
It is extensively used by tribes all over India to treat various diseases, some of them include body pains, tooth ache and ulcers. The gum obtained from the trunk is often used in confectionery while the powdered bark is used as a flavouring agent.
A resin, called 'Jingan gum' is obtained from the stems and can be used for calico printing as well as for mixing with lime when whitewashing. However, this resin is said to be of low quality. This tree shows excellent termite resisting properties and hence, is used in plywoods.
