M.Sc. Chemistry

The PG Department of Chemistry, ever since it was established in 2007, has carried out the tradition of excellence in maintaining high-quality teaching. In the quest of academic excellence, the Department is dedicated to provide the best quality and up-to-date education to its students. The curriculum of the Department aims to provide holistic development to the students. The Core and Core Electives are designed to impart in-depth knowledge in Chemistry on par with academic and industrial requirements.  The Department also offers interdisciplinary courses such as Industrial Hygiene and Clinical Biochemistry in collaboration with other departments and institutions. The Project Work in the last semester brings the entire programme to a meaningful culmination among students enabling them to apply all their knowledge in proposing, researching and defending their projects. The students carry out an internship and a project at an institution of repute as a mandatory component of the curriculum. The Department received M.Phil recognition in 2017. The faculty members of the Department are expanding their research expertise in the field of Electrochemistry, Bio-Inorganic Chemistry and Nanocatalysis. For the past three years the Department has also collaborated with International Institutions like National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taiwan and Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), Taiwan for research and internship training programmes, and a few students have undergone funded internship training programmes in renowned Institutions in India as well.
