Department of Languages
About us
The Department of Languages was established in 1998 with the commencement of the Self-Financed stream of the college and was bifurcated on October 1, 2014. It offers Hindi and French as Part I Languages for all UG programs and for II B.A. and B.Sc. programs. Additionally, these languages are offered as Non-Major Electives for UG programs and as Skill-Based courses for PG programs.
Department Faculty are professionally skilled and dedicated to enhance students’ language skills in communication, creative writing, and critical reasoning through its curriculum, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. This training prepares students for successful careers while they study Hindi and French.

Highlights
TAHIFRE’ March 2023 – To earmark the silver jubilee year of the department, a trilingual magazine in Tamil, Hindi & French was launched successfully in the presence of Deans and Librarian on 31st January 2024. Students of Language and Tamil Departments have contributed their literary and artistic works.
Dr. Sunita Jajodia Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Languages launched her book in Hindi, Zindagi ka Collage, (poetry collection) on 7th December 2023. Dr. Pradeep K Sharma, Registrar of Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha was the chief guest. Dr. Chitti Annapoorna, Head of Hindi Department, University of Madras, Principal Dr. Lilian I Jasper, Librarian Dr. Lisa Sheeba Rani were the esteemed guests present during the occasion.
TAHIFRE Culturals’ – An inter-departmental language cultural event is conducted annually by the Departments of Language and Tamil. Students are encouraged to showcase their talents in various cultural activities and competitions held on the occasion.
Awareness programme on water conservation on 27th June, 2019
Amritjalam, an awareness programme on water conservation was conducted by Hindi department on 27th June, 2019 in collaboration with Rajasthan Patrika. The Chief Guest of the programme was Ms. Renu Arya Agarwal-orator and writer.
