Suresh Babuji, Joint Director, MSME-Development Institute was conducted on 15th, 16th and 20th November,2023.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Department, an International Conference: Thriving in Turbulent times: Sustainable Growth through Innovative Practices was organised in Hybrid Mode on the 9th & 10th August, 2023. Participants: 1,017 (WCC Students-926; Staff: 30) Outside Participant: Offline -30; Online-31. Total No. of Research Papers: 104 from across India and Malaysia. Resource Persons from the US, UK, Philippines and India shared their expertise and knowledge on the need for and methods of innovative practices for sustainable development.
Catalysts of Change 2023 organized by Chennai Volunteers on 17th February, 2023 at Loyola College. 10 students (2019 Batch) from the Department of Commerce received appreciation and an award for transformational volunteering during Covid 19 lockdown.
On November 9, 2022, 30 final year B.Com students engaged in experiential learning by performing an Industry-Based Audit of TATA SKY branch offices in Chennai. The project, led by Veronica W, C S Rithica, Harshmitha K, Vishnupriya R, Vasanti C, and Kiruthika V, was carried out in collaboration with Swarna Associates, a chartered accountant firm.
Workshop on Professional Ethics at Workplace – HR Perspective was conducted on 21st July,2022 by Ms.Nikitha Elizabeth-HR Business Partner, L&T for III B.Com students to give an insight about the Professional Ethics that has to be followed at Workplace.
An Online Workshop on “Cryptocurrency 101” was organized in association with Gaja Expanding Consciousness on 24th July, 2021 to provide basic knowledge on Digital Currency & investment options.. The resource panel included Mr. Vikram Nikkam(Founder of Unicoin & Instacryptto), Mr.Romit Goswami(Founder of Zapit) and Mr Vishnu Vardhan(Ex Investment Banker). 1286 participants attended the workshop via Zoom & Youtube Live.
Advanced Excel – A tool for career in Data Science – Regional online workshop was conducted on 12.11.2020 to provide practical and hands-on learning experience using MS- EXCEL. No of Participants :466 i.e., 11(Teachers )+ 455 (Students)
Navigating through COVID -19: Responsible Citizenship – National Webinar was organised on 27th June, 2020 to educate the audience about the role played, responsibilities and duties as citizens, for the country, society, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, and homes. No of Participants :545 i.e., 118 (Teachers)+ 427 (Students)
A seminar on Digital Marketing by Mr. Rishi Jain,Co-Founder of Digital Scholar was held on 29th November, 2019. Students were given an understanding of social media & digital marketing & trending terms related to it viz. Social media Management, Word press management, Search engine marketing, Email Marketing, Content writing, personal branding etc
A workshop on Critical thinking was organised by “Manas – A Pursuit of Happiness” on 20th August 2019. The resource persons were Dr. ChitraAravind, Consultant Psychologist – (RCI Certified) and Dr. AprajithaBhardwaj – Developmental Psychologist. The workshop helped students to look at all the aspects of a situation before making decisions.
NEDC and NIESBUD organized an Entrepreneurship Development Program on 21st August, 2018. The resource was Mr Dinesh Kumar, CEO and Director of National Entrepreneurship Development cell and IHUNDBEST- Educational portal. 141 students from WCC and 12 students from other colleges participated.

The Principal Dr. Lilian I Jasper inaugurated the program and commended the Department for the contribution in the progress of the institution. Felicitation was offered by Dr. Pamela Sahayadas (Coordinator 2007 to 2011) and former head of AZBT department. 5 illustrious alumnae were invited to speak on the occasion. A tree – Syzygium Aqueum –Water Apple was planted to commemorate the occasion.

Youth Summit is an annual intercollegiate academic fest organised by the Department that provides a platform for students for exchanging ideas, improving mutual understanding, sharing different points of view and developing the competencies and skills necessary for self and societal improvement.

ECO CONNECT
The Eco-Connect program is an annual initiative designed to raise awareness about eco-friendly living through engaging activities, sustainable food stalls, and displays of eco-conscious products. It encourages participants to adopt environmentally responsible practices by highlighting the importance of sustainable choices and reducing their environmental footprint. By fostering a sense of community and collective responsibility, Eco-Connect aims to inspire positive environmental action within the college and beyond.
