| About the tree |
The tree’s name comes from its large trumpet-shaped flowers, which range in colour from pink to white. This tree is known for its impressive flowering display, where the entire tree is spectacularly covered in blossoms. When their flowers fall, they form a beautiful carpet of flowers around the tree.
It is the national tree of the Republic of El Salvador. The bark found to be anti-cancer. The wood is moderately light and soft but makes an excellent timber.
This tree has been planted in 1935 by Ms. Eleanor McDougall, the first principal of WCC commemorating the 20th anniversary of the college.
