About us
The Department of Information Technology was started in the year 2001 initially as a Masters programme in Information Technology. M.Sc. Information Technology is an intensive, practice oriented course. It provides an opportunity for non-computing graduates to develop key specialist skills for a career in computing and to improve their communication skills. The curriculum offers a range of topics including advanced programming, user-interface design, software engineering and management. The Department organises seminars and workshops through which the students gain exposure to the IT industry and expand their horizons on learning new topics.

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT
Highlights
The Inter Collegiate Techno-Meet CompSync ’21 was conducted by the students of the Computer Science Departments both from Shift I and Shift II through online. The main objective of this event is to provide a platform for the students to showcase their talent and exhibit their knowledge in the field of computer science thus improving the general knowledge of each participant.
Date – 13th February, 2021
Participation Level – Students from 15 colleges actively participated.
This CompSync ’21 had brought out the leadership qualities, responsibility and dedication of the students who organised this event with the help of the staff members.
ASSOCIATION
Renaissance is the association of the Department of Information Technology and Department of Computer Science and Technology. The association aims to provide a platform for the students to hone their skills, which would open pathways to a new technical terrain through a resurgence of learning, and widening of horizons thus resulting in the holistic development of students driven to excellence. Student’s participation in various association activities enhances learning through exchange of ideas among students.
SERVICE-LEARNING PROJECT
Renaissance, the association of the Department of Information Technology has successfully undertaken Service-Learning Projects every year. This course requires the student to render their services to the underprivileged of society, by imparting the knowledge of basic computer skills, MS word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, Paint, Communication Skills and Personality Development. The Service-Learning programme can be undertaken in schools, orphanages, homes etc. Students can participate in this program individually or as group. They complete the planned syllabus within the duration of 15 hours. The SLP project makes them earn an extra credit.
- International Conference on Recent Advances in Communications and Computing Technologies (ICRACCT2020) was organised on 24th& 25th January, 2020.
