M.Sc. Computer Science and Technology (5-year Integrated course)
About us
The five year integrated PG Degree Programme in Computer Science and Technology, was introduced in the year 2001.
The designed Syllabi effectively communicate the computing concepts and principles needed to develop sustainable solutions to current and future computing problems. A modular course design, along with hands on experience in in-house software development and also in the industry, gives students practical training and work experience.
This programme consists of ten semesters (5 year duration), which includes a Summer Internship following the eighth semester, an industry-based project and a research project including publishing their papers during the final semester. The programme also offers significant industry orientation through Guest Lectures and Workshops on latest technologies and Industrial Visits. The students are also trained on Personality Enhancement, Basic Employability Skills, Teaching Aptitude and Communication Skills.
If a student is unable to continue this course after the sixth semester, she will be awarded a Degree B.Sc. (Computer Science & Technology), provided she has passed all subjects up to Semester VI.

The Department has a well-established Computer lab with sufficient computers installed with the required advanced software for teaching and practice.

Highlights
Renaissance, the Association of the PG Department of Computer Science and Information Technology which has come a long way in its quest to prepare students for their transition into the corporate world, has successfully followed through on its goal by challenging the students with a line-up of both technical and non technical Activities that were conducted throughout the academic year.
The Service Learning Project, a course for extra credit was introduced which help the students take what they learn and use it to improve the computer literacy of the poorer sections of the society. So far seven SLPs have been completed successfully by the students in various schools like C.S.I. Monahan Matriculation School,RoyapettahGovernment Higher Secondary School,Velacherry and St.Mark’s Middle School, Vepery in the last five years.
The Department organises Guest Lectures, Webinars, and Workshops every semester for the students.
Conduct a Certificate course on SPSS / Web design using WordPress for students during Odd Semester.
To motivate the students towards research, a Research Rudiments Paper in semester X was introduced, where they are encouraged to choose a domain, study publications in that domain and are encouraged to present their papers in Intercollegiate Technical Meet or Conference / publish their work in journals under the guidance of staff members.
