M.A. Human Resource Management

About us

The Department of Management Studies was established in 2007 and offers a two-year Postgraduate Degree in Human Resource Management (HRM) with an intake of 40 students. It is offered to all streams of students irrespective of their subject specialisation. The course trains the students to apply strategic HR practices within a corporate context towards the management of an organisation’s most valued assets – the employees working there. This course includes broad conceptual and theoretical elements and application of perspectives in the fields of Human Resource Management. In-class discussions, group preparation and presentations, innovative curriculum, industry interactions, workshops, outbound training, seminars, peer learning and project work prepare the students to meet the challenges of the managerial profession. The Department ethos is focussed on holistic development, ensuring the rigour of the academic programme and producing graduates with appropriate and sufficient managerial skill, knowledge and experience.

On completion of the course, students will be able to procure HR management jobs such as Chief Learning Officer, Compensation & Benefits Manager, Job Analysis Specialist, HR Practice Leader, Human Resources Manager or Director, Industrial Relations Director, Labour Relations Consultant or Manager, Learning & Development Director, Organisational Development Director or Consultant, Programme Administrator or Evaluator, Training & Development Manager or Facilitator. The course also is both a preparation for directly stepping into a corporate job as well as a prelude to a higher education in Management which includes experience in research.
