About us
Part I Courses
Tamil is offered as a Part I component at the undergraduate level to all students in the first four semesters. The acquisition and honing of communication skills is given due importance in framing the curriculum. The texts chosen are used to impart awareness and instill values to the learners. The Tamil Students are divided into two sections – General and Advanced – according to their aptitude which is assessed in the first week of their entry into college. The Tamil students are also exposed to works of literary excellence.
Non –Major Elective Courses
Tamil is a mandatory course as per the State Government policy. The Department offers Beginners’ Tamil to students who have no knowledge of Tamil, Basic Tamil to those below the level of Class X and Advance Tamil to those below the level of Class XII Tamil in schools.
Skill Based Courses
The Department offers various courses like Journalism with Tamil Computing, Job Oriented Tamil and Tourism Tamil.

Chief Guest: Dr. Moses Michael Farede delivered the inaugural and keynote address wherein he spoke about the dynamic power of Thirukkural and its reflection in life styles.
Six colleges participated in this programme around 25 students participated in various competitions like poetry, essay, dance, oratorical competition and singing.
