B.Sc. Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science was one of the first in the University of Madras to offer B.Sc. Computer Science in the aided stream in 1987, to empower young women for the digital era. The Department offers a well balanced curriculum consisting of hardware, software and application oriented courses. The syllabus is revised at regular intervals to keep pace with recent advancements in technology. The curriculum includes compulsory summer internship training for 4 to 6 weeks which enables students to get to know the latest in the field and to learn work ethics. Workshops, conferences and seminars at the national and international levels are organised by the Department in close liaison with renowned academicians and professionals from leading Institutions and industries. Moreover experts with hands-on experience regularly share their domain knowledge with the students of the Department. The Department has state of the art infrastructure including smart Classrooms and well-equipped, Wi-Fi enabled Computer and Electronic Laboratories.  Many of the students are well placed in top IT companies through campus placement and some of them pursue higher studies. Graduates of the Department are lifetime learners; they are able to adapt quickly to this challenging field.  The Department maintains a good rapport with the alumnae and they extend their support by instituting prizes, and scholarships for needy students.
