The two-year PG degree programme in Data Science course was started in the year 2022. M.Sc Data Science has evolved as an important field and is about data gathering, analysis and decision-making. It is about finding patterns in data, through analysis, and making future predictions to increase the revenue in any business organization. There are several employment opportunities and after successful completion of M.Sc Data Science students can employed directly in companies as Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Machine Learning Engineer, Machine Learning Scientist, Applications Architect, Enterprise Architect, Data Architect, and Data Engineer.

Highlights
The Data Science and Computer Science departments organized a seminar on “Achieving Gender Equality and Empowering Women” on 23.07.2024, featuring Advocate M.S. Sayee Chaitanya Rekha from Madras High Court.
A seminar on “CYBERSAFE – Protecting your online identity” was held on 19.07.2024 with Mr. Ramsundar Suresh, Managing Director of HebeSec Technologies, as the resource person.
BSc (Computer Science with Data Science) students went on an EVS field trip to Arignar Anna Zoological Park, along with the IT and CST departments.
Thanuja B and Miruthula R from II MSc Data Science won 2nd and 3rd place in ‘Prompt Engineering’ at Chennai Ilakkiya Thiruvizha 2024
A seminar on “Importance of Higher Education Abroad” took place on 22.01.2024 with Mr. Abdul Navas, Senior Manager at KC Overseas.
A national workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and its Applications” was held on 19-20.01.2024, led by Dr. S. Bharathidason (Loyola College) and Dr. T. Kalaiselvi (The Gandhigram Rural Institute).
I M.Sc. Data Science students participated in Data Verse at Loyola College on 15.12.2023, winning multiple prizes.
A seminar on “Prepare Yourself for Industry 4.0” was held on 29.11.2023, featuring Mr. Muhammed Ilyas, Founder and CEO, Altsense Technology.
A seminar on “Entrepreneurship” was conducted on 14.09.2023, with Ms. Jebamani M, Entrepreneur, J Star International, Chennai, as the resource person.
A team from II M.Sc. Data Science secured 2nd place at the IET’s Industry Summit 5.0 Hackathon on 01.09.2023, winning a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.
Learning Outcomes:
- Ability to apply knowledge of basic sciences, mathematics, probability and statistics, Computer science and solve problems.
- An ability to understand research methods used to collect and analyze data for decision making.
- Develop and implement data analysis strategies based on theoretical principles, and
- detailed knowledge of the underlying data.
- Ability to collaborate as team members and team leaders to facilitate cutting-edge technical solutions for computing systems and thereby providing improved functionality.
- To provide a concrete foundation and enrich their abilities to qualify for Employment, and Research in the field of computers and Data science with ethical values
- Ability to apply their skills in the field of computers and data science and pursue life long professional development.
Program Objective :
- Provides an in-depth understanding of the key technologies in Data Science and Business Analytics.
- Able to gain practical hands-on experience with various software tools like Knime, SPSS and many more advanced technological models related to data analysis.
- Acquire a thorough knowledge in exploring and visualizing data, analysing data and applying machine learning to planning based on acquired insight.
Eligibility Criteria:
Should have acquired a degree from any recognized university / College in Data Science / Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology / Mathematics / Statistics under 10+2+3 stream.
